Open Letter of the Greek Free/Open Source Software Society (GFOSS) to political parties for adopting open policies

During the pre-election period, the Greek Free/Open Source Software Society (GFOSS, www.eellak.gr ) has sent an open letter to the Greek political parties, suggesting specific policy proposals for transparency and openness to be adopted and included in their pre-election programme.

The GFOSS proposals refer to specific measures that need to be taken in order to promote and encourage the adoption of open source software and open technologies in the private and public sector, including the effective application of the open data law (Greek law Ν. 4305/2014) and the article 58 of the Greek law regarding open spatial data (N.4178/2013), providing additional support and strengthening the Transparency Program initiative (greek law 3861/2010), additional support and effective application of the legislation with regard to the Electronic Government (greek law 3979/2011) and fulfilling Greece’s commitments in the context of the Open Government Partnership (– OGP http://www.opengovpartnership.org/country/greece)
